Overall thoughts on Publishing

It's fun, I think I want to continue working on publishing, though I understand that there are some issues that I have with separating myself from the piece, but then again that can come in handy.  And though I do not really wish to force my writing on anyone, it does give me better insight into what is lacking in my own work.  Meanwhile I like to think that i'm helping someone else get the wish and the dream that they are looking for.
It was a time consuming process though, going through and rereading things.  Now though I do prefer editing, going through different possible changes with the authors, I still think that is more fun, making the piece better.  But helping getting the person published is satisfying as well.  Though it also comes with the knowledge that you are also turning away other people as well.

I can't wait for next year.

  1. I'm glad you are excited about next year. I always need students who are familiar with the editorial board process to help smooth the way for folks taking the class for the first time --

I'm not sure exactly what you meant about "separating" yourself from pieces of writing, but I take it to mean that you felt personally moved and involved in some of the work you read. That can make it hard to have a perspective, but I think it's a good quality to have, too, because you are putting a great deal of energy into the process. But no doubt you already figured that out!
